What is it, and why do I need it?

The XPORT module is a small communications device fitted inside all ‘E’-series Helix units (DN9340E, DN9344E and DN9848E) which provides Ethernet access.

Version 2.00 adds support for backwards compatibility with non-‘E’ series units via a UDS-1100 (or UDS-100) Ethernet to serial converter. With this update, you will be able to daisy chain E-series units together via Ethernet, then into a UDS-1100 and from there daisy chain into a set of non-E units via RS-232 or RS-485, all controlled from a single DN9340 Master or DN9340E Dual EQ. The DN9000-series manuals will be updated to show this connection method.

Enhanced Features:

Fix for a loss of communications associated with rapidly changing STS channels.

Full backwards compatibility with older non-‘E’ series units (mixed DN9344 and DN9344E slaves).

What do I need to do it, and how do I go about doing it?

To upgrade the XPORT Host Code to version V2.00 you will need:

Elgar Library Manager version 2.64 or later.

A display resolution of at least 1024 X 768 pixels.

Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

IMPORTANT:
Microsoft .Net framework 1.1 MUST be installed on your PC prior to installing the Elgar Library Manager Shell software.  We also strongly recommend you run Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) to make sure all your PC components are fully up to date.
To perform the upgrade, first install the file listed below. This places the installable file in a sensible place on your computer. Then:

Start Elgar and go to the Tools menu, and select ‘Upgrade Device Firmware’.

Select ‘Xport’ in the left pane of the dialogue box.

Find the IP address of the device you need to update, and enter it in the IP address box. The XPort IP address can be found from the Detect Devices button on the Communications page.

Press ‘Test Connection’. If the connection is unsuccessful, verify that the XPort is connected correctly.

Press Next, and Browse to the installed file (the file location should already be filled in correctly if you installed the XPort update to the default place) – if not, find the xptex.rom file installed from the link below, and select it.

Press Next, click ‘Program’ to start the process and follow the on-screen instructions.

Re-power the DN9000-series unit to complete the process.
