NM-COBRA28 — CobraNet CM-1 Network Module
The NM-COBRA28 is a 28-channel bidirectional CobraNet network module built around the Cirrus Logic CobraNet CM-1 chipset. It is a retrofit interface card designed to bring CobraNet audio-over-Ethernet connectivity to host Klark Teknik signal processors, supporting the standard CobraNet bundle and conductor protocol.
Network Architecture
Up to 28 24-bit bidirectional channels are carried at 48 kHz or 96 kHz sample rates across the CobraNet network. Primary and secondary Ethernet interfaces provide dual-redundant networking with automatic failover, the standard topology for installations where audio reliability cannot tolerate a single point of failure.
Clocking and Latency
The module operates from the internal CobraNet master clock or accepts external word-clock from the host unit. Clock jitter is specified at less than 1 nanosecond, suitable for studio-grade conversion. Network latency is selectable at 1.33 ms, 2.66 ms or 5.33 ms to balance throughput against round-trip time for monitor-mix applications.
Application
Large installation projects, broadcast facilities and stadium installs that standardised on CobraNet during its mid-2000s peak. The module retrofits into compatible Klark Teknik chassis as part of a wider CobraNet backbone.
